Our History
In the summer of 2010, Southern NH University gathered together several leaders, many of whom had a long-standing relationship with the former Women’s Business Center. After much deliberation, the group determined with resounding affirmation that a women’s business center was necessary and essential to New Hampshire’s continued small business success. The group included: Laurie Chandler of Vigilant Capital; Lucy Hodder of Rath, Young & Pignatelli; Mary Jo Brown of Brown Design; Kathleen Reardon of Citizens Bank; Katie Merrow, Deborah Schachter and Rachael Stuart of the NH Charitable Foundation; Marianne Jones of the Women's Fund of New Hampshire; Christos Papoutsy; Ellen Fineberg of Children’s Alliance of New Hampshire; and Nancy Euchner of AgeQuest, LLC. Under the leadership of Dean Bill Gillett, the University received a grant from the US Small Business Administration’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership.
Today, old and new stakeholders have created a solid foundation to ensure that the Center for Women’s Business Advancement has a lasting and positive impact on the small business community.
